Leonard C. Schiro

Leonard C. Schiro, is a founding partner of the firm and has spent his entire legal career in the field of Labor and Employment Law. 

Mr. Schiro is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section, as well as the AFL-CIO LLC. Furthermore, he is also a member of the State Policemen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) Legal Protection Plan.

Mr. Schiro is an adjunct Professor for Rutgers University (2002 – Present) and currently teaches Labor Relations in Professional Sports, which examines the history and unique laws governing labor unions and owners in MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL. Mr. Schiro also specializes in Fund representation providing legal representation to various trust funds including pension, health and welfare, annuity, education and apprentice funds – providing innovative cost saving measures for various funds as well as collections, management of claims for mass torts, representation of trustees on going compliances.

Mr. Shiro has helped shape the laws concerning labor unions and employee rights with pivotal cases, including his Supreme Court victory in IFPTE Local 196 v. New Jersey Highway Authority.  He has also served as a Contract Advisor for the National Football League Player’s Association.

Mr. Schiro is admitted to practice law in New Jersey State and Federal Courts.

ASSOCIATES

Brian J. Manetta

Brian J. Manetta is an associate of the firm. Mr. Manetta received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he received a Dean’s Scholarship and was the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law. Mr. Manetta graduated with a degree in history from Ithaca College. While an undergraduate, Mr. Manetta was a four-year varsity letter winner on Ithaca College’s football team.

Mr. Manetta regularly appears before the following:

  • Federal and State Courts;
  • National Labor Relations Board;
  • New Jersey Civil Service Commission;
  • New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission;
  • Boards of the New Jersey Public Employees Retirement System; and
  • New Jersey Police and Fire Retirement System.

In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Manetta also teaches Employment Law and Employee Relations in the Entertainment Industry at Rutgers University.

Julian Krol

Julian N. Krol is an associate of the firm. Mr. Krol received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School and also graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations.

Prior to joining Mets Schiro & McGovern, Mr. Krol was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Patricia Del Bueno Cleary, P.J., Chancery Division of the Monmouth Vicinage. During Law School, Mr. Krol focused his work experience in Labor and Employment Law. Mr. Krol worked as a Law Clerk for a Labor and Employment Law Firm in New York City. Mr. Krol has also interned at the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Krol has also served as a Law Clerk for New York State United Teachers, AFL-CIO, helping teachers process grievances and legal disputes.

Mr. Krol was awarded a Peggy Browning Fellowship during his second year of law school and was able to work at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO, helping union workers with legal disputes. 

Julian is admitted to practice law in the States of New Jersey and New York; the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Nicholas P. Milewski

Nicholas P. Milewski has well over a decade of experience litigating complex employment claims and civil rights claims filed with public entities and private entities, including retaliation claims made pursuant to the LAD and CEPA, and discrimination and hostile work environment claims made pursuant to State and Federal law on the basis of gender, disability, military service, age and religion, whistleblower retaliation claims, and various constitutional claims. Mr. Milewski has also litigated multiple actions in Lieu of Prerogative Writs, Open Public Records Act claims and Title 59 claims filed with municipal entities. He has also litigated multiple police promotional lawsuits with public entities. He has experience drafting contracts, operating procedures, ordinances and resolutions as to local governments. Mr. Milewski has litigated employment matters at various levels of State and Federal courts, including extensive appellate experience.  

In addition, Mr. Milewski has extensive labor experience and has handled matters on a wide range of topics including conducting contract negotiations and serving as special counsel in disciplinary matters involving law enforcement personnel. He also has experience participating in multiple workplace dispute/impropriety investigations. Prior to focusing his practice on employment/labor law and litigation of same, Mr. Milewski litigated commercial claims against private clients and drafted operating and partnership agreements for new business entities, employment agreements and leases.  

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Milewski was an associate at various firms in New Jersey, including Eric Bernstein & Associates, LLC in Warren and Hanrahan Pack, LLC in Bergen County. Mr. Milewski also served as Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Bette Uhrmacher, P.J.S.C. in Monmouth County, and is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law Newark. Mr. Milewski enjoys spending time with his family, including his two (2) young sons.
